Don’t Move Improve! Awards are now in their 4th year and seek to find projects that create more space to live and work in London. HUT created a house that was sleek, minimal whilst reflecting the client’s personality and, most importantly, enough space to function effectively as a family home. The brief allowed for the creation of a house that preserved the character existing features and merged with confident modern design. The major architectural additions are two slick black boxes to the rear of the property. Each box is made up of powder coated black metal cladding with a ribbon of glass wrapping over the walls and roof.
The project will be available to view in an exhibition at the NLA, The Building Centre, 26 Store Street, WC1E 7BT from Friday 6th December until Thursday 6th February. More information about the shortlisted projects can be found here. All photos are copyright Matt Chisnall
