Ground has been broken on site in St Albans. 3-storey mews houses replace existing workshop buildings to the west of the site, with 2-storey link-detached houses to the south. Existing brick walls are retained to enclose new gardens and a shared children’s play area. Each house uses large areas of fixed glazing with openable timber panels and carefully arranged screening devices to allow for daylight and views whilst maintaining privacy in this tight urban setting.
